Soto Zen Mission in North America May 30, 2021

Montebello Sozenji Buddhist Temple is located in the east of Los Angeles.
The community was built by Rev. Shuyu Kurai and his followers in 1971.

Sozenji temple is affiliated with Sojiji Head Monastery in Japan (one of the two head monasteries of Soto Zen Buddhism) through the connection of the honorary founder of the temple Rev. Kinei Otogawa, the Fudenji temple in Italy (the central Soto Zen temple in Italy) through the connection of the previous minister late Rev. Shuichi Kurai, and the Rocky Mountain Zen community currently being built in Southern Alberta in Canada through my connection with Mr. Aaron Roth and the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in Lethbridge, Alberta in Canada.

Serving and honoring the original members of Sozenji temple and expanding the mission to people of all colors and ethnicities, extending the network and activities beyond the border, I make a pledge to strengthen the community of Sozenji Buddhist Temple.

Following the mission in Long Beach, will give me a new challenge and opportunities to further spread the dharma and the teachings of Soto Zen Buddhism.
